THOUSANDS of people got a taste of the huge range of activities that the Forest has to offer on Sunday
The annual Forest Activities Festival at the Speech House, near Coleford, showcases things to do in the area from bushcraft to walking football, martial arts and a variety of crafts and locally-produced food and drink.
The festival was opened by Lydney’s Paralympics triathlon gold medallist Andy Lewis.
There were many activities to try out for all the family, particularly children.
Visitor Sue James of Cinderford said: “We come as a family every year because there is so much to see and do.
“You don’t necessarily know everything that’s available so the activities festival is a really good way of finding out.”
Organiser Amanda Smith added: “It was great to see so many families enjoying the festival together in the sunshine and finding out about all of the fantastic things that the Forest of Dean has to offer.
“We would like to thanks Paralympics gold medalist Andy Lewis MBE from Lydney for opening the event, our amazing activity providers and exhibitors, Peter and Gill Hands and their team at Speech House, our sponsors, the Christian Adventure Centre for the canoe taster sessions, and our loyal exceptional helpers without whom the day would be a lot more challenging.
“And a big thank you to all the lovely people for coming year on year, supporting the event.”
